(1) 1+2+3+4+………………+48+49+50.
If we start adding the first & the last numbers
1+50= 51
2+49 = 51
3+ 48 = 51
4+ 47 = 51………..
This way if we continue.. Towards the end we get…
24 + 27 = 51
25 + 26 = 51
That shows, by adding them we get 51, 25 times.
So the total will be 51 * 25 = 1275 .
(2) So we can frame a formula now, whenever , the sum of first ’n’ numbers are to be found out…
SUM = n/2 * (n+1) = 50/2*(50+1) = 25*51= 1275
[3] or, The sum of any ‘n’ numbers = Sn =
n/2 { 2a + (n-1)d} = 50/2 {(2+ 49*1}= 25*51= 1275
