Proof : Suppose DE is not parallel to BC Than , Let : Another line DF parallel to BC Now : Since DF parallel BC ( by suppose ) So , AD/BD = AF/FC ( by B.P.T.and it is 1eq.) And AD/BD = AE/EC ( eq. 2) On comparing eq.1 and 2 AF/FC = AE/EC AF/ FC + 1= AE /EC + 1 AF+FC/FC = AE + EC /EC AC/FC = AC / EC FC = EC Since FC = EC This not possible This is possible only when point E,F are coincident So our assumption is wrong So , DF parallel BC Hence Proved
