Mining sites are abandoned after excavation work is complete leaving deep scars in states such as Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh and Odisha. Deforestation due to mining has caused severe land degradation. Overgrazing is also one of the main reasons for land degradation. Such activities leave traces of over-burdening.
To get rid of this land degradation, Proper management of wastelands and control of mining activities is to be initiated.
