If several parties compete for power and more than 2 parties have a reasonable chance of coming to power either on their own strength or in alliance with other parties,we call it as a multi party system. It is adopted in India because of the following reasons- 1- India is a vast and diverse country, multi party system is needed to accommodate it. 2- It ensures a healthy competition between different parties and prevents the dictatorship of single party.Indian Constitution declared India as a democratic country. Multi party system fulfills this criteria and provide a chance for proper growth of country.
