Mrs pumphery was responsible for tricki's ailment as she treated tricki as a human being. She gave him a complete human diet, she gave him wine, cakes, cod liver oil, a bowl of horlicks and many things to eat and provided him a luxurious life. Tricki was ready to eat at any time at any hour of the day. He became a show piece at home, he didn't do any type of exercise and drank less water. Because of the things given by Mrs Pumphery to Tricki to eat, there was a lot of fat stored in his body and he became as a ball of silk. In this way Mrs Pumphery was responsible for Tricki's ailment.
