A corona discharge: Corona discharge is a phenomenon of charge transfer by ionization of a fluid (may also include gases) surrounding a charged conductor, it is seen as a blue light between two sharp point electrodes kept at high potential difference. When a conductor having high charge density is placed in a fluid (or air) the medium becomes conducting because of the high electric intensity and leads to ionization of the atoms.
