Two ordered pair are equal only if their corrosponding part are equal. So

3x - 2 = 2x +5
=> 3x-2x = 5 +2
=> x = 7

Also,
4y-1 = 2y + 7
=> 4y-2y = 7+1
=> 2y = 8
=> y = 4
