PQRS represents the rectangle lawn, and ABCD represents the outer edge of the lawn.
Since PQ = 30 m, and since the path is 2 m wide.
AB = (30+2+2) m = 34 m
And AD = (16+2+2) m = 20 m
therefore, Area of ABCD = (34×20) m2
and Area of PQRS = (30×16) m2 = 480 m2
therefore area of the path = area ABCD - area PQRS
= (680 - 480) m2
= 200 m2
