A Right angle triangle has hypotenuse of length "p" centimetre and one side of length "q" centimetre. IF P - Q is equal to 1 find the length of the third side of the triangle?

    Let third side = x cm
    Then by Pythagoras theorem,
    p2 = q2 + x2
    x2 = p2 - q2
    = (p + q) ( p - q)
    = (p + q) ​{tex} \times{/tex}​ 1 ( ​{tex}\because {/tex}​ p - q = 1)
    = q + 1 + q
    = 2q + 1
    ​{tex}\therefore {/tex}​ x ={tex}\sqrt {2q + 1} {/tex}
