Mrs. Pumphrey showed her love for Tricki by sending him eggs, wine, brandy etc. in the hospital. All those things were consumed by the doctor and the other members of the hospital. Nothing was given to Tricki. Hence, Mr. Harriot was tempted to keep Tricky as his permanent guest.
