Common salt i.e. NaCl is used to clear the snow off the road bcz it has a freezing point of 801℃ and on mixing with ice or snow it lowers thw freezing point of mixture to -21℃ and the temperature in surrounding is above it .and therefore ice or snow keep on melting or we can say doesn't get freezed.
