Folds are bends in rocks that are due to compressional forces.they are formed whenheat and pressure is applied to the rock this process is called folding. if the internal strength of the rock is less than the pressure applied to a rock undergoing folding then faults are formed.folds are formed due to vertical movement andforces moves towards a common center.faults are caused due to horizontal movementand forces moves away from a common center.folds are common in sedimentatry rocks and faults are common in ignesious or metamorphic rocks
