Distance covered in first interval , x_1 = 30 × 5/18 × 15 × 60 m = 7500 m In second interval , x_2 = 40 × 5/18 × 15 × 60 m = 10000 m In third interval , x_3 = 60 × 5/18 × 30 × 60 m = 30000 m Total time = t_1+ t_2 + t_3 = 15×60 +15×60 +30×60s = 900 + 900 + 1800s = 3600 s = 1h Average speed = (x_1+ x_2 + x_3)/( t_1+t_2+t_3) = (47500/3600) ms^-1 = 47.5 km/ h
