The poet uses the hemlock tree and the crow to describe the bitterside of nature. He also expresses his mood which was in dispair and sorrow. He had a regret about something which eas finally gone when the crow flapped its wings upon him and the dust of snow fell over his shoulder. Along with this he says that a simple moment can have a great effect on someone. He could have used another birds and trees like maple but only to have a impact on the readers and to express his mood (despair, regret, sadness) he used the following.
