Given that, -4 is a zero of the polynomial f(x) = x2 - x - (2k + 2), so, we have
f(-4) = 0
{tex}\Rightarrow{/tex} (-4)2 - (-4) - 2k - 2 = 0
{tex}\Rightarrow{/tex} 16 + 4 - 2k - 2 = 0
{tex}\Rightarrow{/tex} 18 - 2k = 0
{tex}\Rightarrow{/tex} 2k = 18
{tex}\Rightarrow{/tex} k = 9.
