let 'x' be the number

Then,according to the question

x + x² = (63/4)

4x²+ 4x -63 = 0

Using splitting the middle term,

4x² + 18x - 14x -63 = 0

2x(2x-9) - 7(2x-9) = 0

(2x - 7)(2x - 9) = 0

⇒ x = (7/2) or (9/2)

x = (7/2) satisfy the condition given in the question

so, x =(7/2) is the number
