Let A(-2, 0) and B(6, 0) be the given points.
Let P(x, 0) be the point on x -axis such that PA = PB
PA = PB
PA² = PB²
(x + 2)² + (0 - 0)² = (x - 6)² + (0 - 0)²
{tex}\Rightarrow{/tex} x² + 4 + 4x = x² + 36 - 12x
{tex}\Rightarrow{/tex} 16x = 32
{tex}\Rightarrow{/tex} x = 2
{tex}\therefore{/tex} The point on x-axis is (2, 0).
