Let A(-2, 0) and B(6, 0) be the given points.
Let P(x, 0) be the point on x -axis such that PA = PB
PA = PB
PA2 = PB2
(x + 2)2 + (0 - 0)2 = (x - 6)2 + (0 - 0)2
{tex}\Rightarrow{/tex} x2 + 4 + 4x = x2 + 36 - 12x
{tex}\Rightarrow{/tex} 16x = 32
{tex}\Rightarrow{/tex} x = 2
{tex}\therefore{/tex} The point on x-axis is (2, 0).
