it is a quantity which is described only by its magnitude. it is always positive. sometimes it is negative but it shows that the magnitude is less.(for eg. temperature). its negative sign does not describes the opposite direction unlike vector.

It is a quantity which have both magnitude amd direction . Ex force , distance etc
