Belgium : 1. They took accommodation as their approach. 2. Each social group had its own community government which has the power regarding cultural, educational and language- related issues. 3. The leaders had realised that the unity of the country is possible only by respecting the feelings and interests of different communities and regions. Sri Lanka: 1. They took majoritarianism as their approach. 2. There was no such community government in Sri Lanka. Indeed their government adopted a series of majoritarian measures to establish Sinhala supremacy. 3. In Sri Lanka, a majority community wanted to force its dominance over others and refused to share power, which undermined the unity of the country.
