The Peoples Militia or the Military of the common people was formed due to the discord formed among the people because of rumors that the army was ordered to open fire upon them.
The Peoples Militia, in 1789 attacked the townhall and the Prison of Bastillle looking for weapons to protect themselves from the army of the King.
