Solute neans the substance which is present in less amount . Solvent is the substance which is present in more amount . Eg water 100 ml and sugar 10 g Sugar is solute & water is solvent . In case of syrup 60% sugar. & 40% water Sugar is solute because ( a solvent is the component whose phase is same as that of phase of solution
