Bye r given because the strong teams may not get eliminated in initial round but the strong teams may played for higher rounds.

Byes are given to strong teams so that they play with the winners of first round and the objective of giving a bye is simply just to maintain the eagerness of viewrs for the strong teams If strong teams play with each other in first round then it may lose the interest of viewers Hope that this ans. would help you
