    The first world war was ended with the defeat of ottoman turkey rumours spread that a strong peace treaty was going to impose on him to defend the khalifa the leader of islamic world a khilafat committee was formed in bombay in 1919 .gandhi saw this as an opportunity to bring hindu and muslim under one roof mahatma gandhi supported it shaukal ali and muhammad ali became the leader of the khilafat committee gandhiji started the non cooperation in 1921 in the suppport of khilafat movement.
