    1 parties contest elections. In most of the democracies the elections fought among candidates to put up by the political parties. 2 parties put forward policies and programmes and the voters have to choose for them. 3 parties form and run government. Parties recruit leaders, train them and then make them ministers to run the government in the way they want. 4 parties shape public opinion. They raise and highlight the issues. They launch some movements to resolve the problems faced by the people. 5 those parties who lose elections play a role of opposition parties and now by voicing different views , criticisngs government for failure or wrong policies.
