The states involved are Maharashtra, Karnataka and Andhrapradesh. To resolve the water disputes the Krishna Water Dispute Tribunal and the Godavari Water Dispute Tribunals were set up by the Government of India in the year 1969. These tribunals were set up under Interstate River Water Dispute Act of 1956.
