Interhalogen compounds are regarded as derivatives of  halogens. Interhalogen compounds of the type AX and AXare formed between halogens having very low electronegativity difference (viz. ClF, ClF3 ) Interhalogen compounds of the type AX5  and Ax7 are formed by larger halogen atoms  having  low electronegativity with smaller atoms having high electronegativity . A few significant interhalogen compounds derived from different halogens  are represented as below -
