Now let us divide 1 by 7 using long division method.

Now we see that remainder 1 is returned so same pattern will repeat in the quotient, so we can say that

{tex}\frac{1}{7}{/tex} = 0.142857142857............

Hence {tex}\frac{1}{7}{/tex} = {tex}0. \overline {142857}{/tex}
