Allegory is usually the representation of abstract ideas or principles by characters, figures, or events in narrative, dramatic, or pictorial form. It is usually a tale with a moral. It dates back to the classical ages when allegories had biblical references. They might also act as a political satire.
One may give example of the French allegory, Marianne, a popular Christian name represented the popular political ideas advocated by the revolutionaries. The ideas of Liberty, Justice and Republic were represented by various symbols in the allegory were a red cap, the tri-colour and cockade or the broken chain represent Liberty. Justice is represented by the blindfold and the weighing scales in one hand.
