सत्याग्रह का अर्थ: महात्मा गांधी ने सत्याग्रह के रूप में जनांदोलन का एक नायाब तरीका अपनाया। यह तरीका इस सिद्धांत पर आधारित था कि यदि कोई सही मकसद के लिए लड़ रहा हो तो उसे अपने ऊपर अत्याचार करने वाले से लड़ने के लिए ताकत की जरूरत नहीं होती है। गांधीजी का विश्वास था कि एक सत्याग्रही अहिंसा के द्वारा ही अपनी लड़ाई जीत सकता है।

गाँधीजी द्वारा आयोजित शुरु के कुछ सत्याग्रह आंदोलन:

1916 में चंपारण में किसान आंदोलन।
1917 में खेड़ा का किसान आंदोलन।
1918 में अहमदाबाद के मिल मजदूरों का आंदोलन।

Satyagraha is made from two sanskrit word . Satya+ agrah. Satya means truth.and agrah means path. Satyagraha means following the path of truth. Gandhiji belive that if the war is for justice so no man force is required.
