Nastic movements- are non-directional responses of plants to a stimuli such as temperature, light, change in turgor pressure or change in ion concentration. Examples- dropping of the Mimosa leaf on being pricked.

Tropisms- are directional responses to a directional stimulus. Examples- growth of the coleoptile tip towards the radiating light.

NASTIC MOVEMENT:

1] non directional response to stimuli

2]independent on growth on the plant

3] change in turgor pressure can induce change in movement

4] opening and closing of flower [ photosynthetic response]

5] nastic movement sare mostly found in specialized plants and organs.

TROPIC MOVEMENT:

1] directional response to stimuli

2] depended on growth on the plant

3] independent on change on turgor pressure

4] photo tropic response

5]Tropic movements are found virtually in all plants
