No dark reaction takes place ,because only in the presence of sunlight ,carbon dioxide and water photosynthesis takes place at night plants breathe oxygen .
Photosynthesis is the process of absorbing light energy from the sun with water and CO2 assistance and transform it to oxygen and carbohydrate. There are light and dark reaction and they both happen in stroma of the chloroplasts or the Calvin Cycle.
The dark reaction does not require light. This does not mean that the dark reaction occurs in dark or at night. They generally occur during the day with no need of light.
