Firstly suppose √2 is rational Than √2=a\b a ans b both are integers also hcf of a,b =1 Squarin both sides 2=a2\b2 2b2=a2 a2is divisible by 2 Also, a is divisible by 2 Now a=2m Put it in firt eq. 2b2=4m2 b2=2m2 b2is divisible by 2 Also, b is divisible by 2 So , hcf of a,b =2 So it is not rational It is irrational ..
