Liquid rises more in a narrow tube and less in a wider tube because here in case, h is inversely proportional to the radius.

Ascent formula When one end of capillary tube of radius r is immersed into a liquid of density p which wets the sides of the capillary tube, the shape of the liquid meniscus in the tube becomes concave upwards.it is called ascent formula. In this case, liquid rises more in a narrow tube and less in wider tube.

ascent formula is a rise of liquid in a capillart tube. It is inversely proportional to the radius of tube. It is inversely proportional to the density of liquid. It is directly proportional to the surface tension of the liquid.
