The definition of mineral acid says it all-"A mineral acid (or inorganic acid) is an acid derived from one or more inorganic compounds. All mineral acids form hydrogen ions and the conjugate base ions when dissolved in water."HCl is produced by the gastric glands in stomach.HCl activates the enzyme pepsin and creates an acidic medium which kills the bacteria which might have entered while ingestion.
HCl does not harm our stomach because the gastric gland also produce mucus which helps in preventing the damage of inner layer of stomach from the action of acid.
