Alkyle halide when react with KNO2 it gives R-ONO where as when it react with AgNO2 it gives R-NO2.Why?

KNO2 is ionic so in solution both nitrogen and oxygen can donate electron but oxygen is more electronegative hence forms more stable bond. Whereas AgNO2 is covalent so only nitrogen is available to donate electrons.
