I know Bhakti movement , Bhakti movement was started around the seventh century in the Vishnu and the Shiva templs of tirupati and kanchi. It was started by the alvar saints, who were vaishnavas(devotees of lord Vishnu) and nayanar saints, who were shaivas (devotees of lord Shiva).
