Volume of water that flows in the canal in one hour = width of the canal x depth of the canal x speed of the canal water = 3 x 1.2 x 20 x 1000m3 = 72000 m3 In 20 minutes the volume of water in the canal = 72000 x m3 = 24000 m3 Area irrigated in 20 minutes, if 8 cm, i.e., 0.08 m standing water is required = m2 = 300000 m2 = 30 hectares
