This movement was started by mahatma gandhi . The tax on salt and the govt. monoply over its production . Gandhiji declared , revealed the most oppressive face of british rule . If the demands were not fulfilled, the congress would launch a civil disobedience campaign . Irwin was unwilling to negotiate . On 6th april ganghiji reached dandi and violated the law by manufacturing the salt . This marked the begining of movement were people were asked to refuse the cooperation with british and break colonial laws....
