Let 5 + 3 √2 be a rational number = 5+3√2 = a = 3√2 = a-5 = √2 = a-5/3 Now, here a-5 / 3 is a rational number. Therefore root 2 is also a rational number. But also we know that root 2 is an irrational number. So our assumption was wrong, Therefore 5 + 3 root 2 is an irrational number Hence proved✓
