Election -- There is a process in democracy in which its representatives are elected Rights and duties -- There are certain right, which is guaranteed to the people, irrespective of their caste, colour, culture, cuisine, costume and custom. These right are enshrined in the constitution. Rule of law -- The representative of the people cannot exercise authoritarianism, they are to be abided by law, enshrined in the constitution. Check and balance -- various branches of democracy are checked and balanced by each other. For instance, executive is accountable to judiciary.
