“Not that I loved Caesar less, but I loved Rome more.”
This is the only reason for which Brutus who was a dear friend of Julies Caesar, but still conspired his murder and stabbed him to death. In real Brutus was not thinking clearly. He was provoked by Cassius. But still he himself also started thinking that Caesar’s powers are growing with every passing day. He feared that one day Caesar would announce himself as the ruler of Rome, and all the Romans will be his slave. Rome was never ruled by one single person, instead it was ruled by senators. Brutus wanted Rome to remain a republic and he was afraid that Caesar will rise above all as a dictator. He didn’t conspired to kill Caesar out of hatred or jealousy as Cassius did. He just had one reason and that was to save Rome from dictatorship.
