(x+3) (x-1) = x-1/3
x2 - x + 3x - 3 = x-1/3
x2 + 2x - 3 = x-1/3
3x2 + 6x- 9 = x-1
3x2+ 5 x - 8 = 0
3x2+ 8x - 3x - 8 = 0
x(3x + 8) - 1(3x + 8) = 0
(3x + 8) (x - 1 ) = 0
x = -8/3 , 1
So the roots are -8/3 and 1
