1:1 means where training load and rest is equal . Mainly used in intensive interval training. For example: 100m sprint and 100m walk or 1 min exercise and 1 min rest. 1:2 means where rest is double the load. Mainly used in extensive interval training. For example: 100m sprint and 200 m walk or 1 min exercise and 2 mins rest.
