Ethane is a colorless, odorless hydrocarbon obtained as a petrochemical by-product during the refining of petroleum.
Ethane gas is combustible in air and has a variety of by products.
Ethane burns in air with the presence of oxygen,
Carbon doixide, water and carbon monoxide are formed.
C2H6 + 3O2 --> CO2 + CO + 3H2O+Heat energy
When the air supply is limited,
Carbon monoxide and water are formed.
2C2H6+ 5O2 ---> 4CO+ 6H2O
