in series all current is drawn by the resistance wire. whereas in parallel part of the current is drawn by the wire..

in series there is an increase in length of the circuit while in parallel combination there is an increase in area since resistance is a quantuty which is directly prortional to length and inversely prortional to area the resistance decreae in parallel and increase in series
