The no. Of electrons present in outermost shell is close to its full capacity then the valency is equal 8 subtract the no. Of electrons in the outermost shell For example - Element. Atomic mass. Valency K L M N Sulphur. 16. 2 8 6 Valence is 6 But valency is ( 8 - 6 )=2 Hydrogen 1 1 Therefore its valency is 1 I hope my answer easily understand and satisfied you.
