The objective of implementing the NREGA 2005 are:
1. To increase the income and employment of people.
2. Every state/region can develop tourism, regional craft, IT etc. for additional employment.
3. The central government made a law implementing the right to work in 200 districts.
4. NREGA aims to provide employment of 100 days. If it fails to do so, it will give unemployment allowances to the people.

1)This Act was passed in September 2005. 2)This act is now renamed as Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Gurantee Act (MNERGA). 3)This act provides 100 days assured employment every year to every rural household ensure livelihood security in rural areas. 4) It also aimed at sustainable development to address the cause of draught, deforestation and soil erosion. 5)One - third of the proposed jobs would be reserved for women. 6)The scheme provided employment to 220crores person days of employment to 4.78 crore households.
