The light emitted by common sources ,e.g. Sun or the electric light bulb is known as unpolarized light. More specialised sources, such as lasers, etc. produce polarized light.
The electromagnetic radiations have waves of different wavelength. If these radiations are passed through some kind of polariser which emits only single phase radiations, the light is known as plane polarised light.
