Let initial side  <nobr aria-hidden="true">= x</nobr>

Initial area = (side)2 = x2

Final side <nobr aria-hidden="true">=2 x </nobr>

Final area =(2x)2=4x2

%<nobr aria-hidden="true">increase=increase/initial ×100
= 4x2/x2 </nobr>×100
= 4 ×100
= 400%

%increase=400%
