static friction :- if a body is at rest and we apply the insufficient force to slide it so that the body keeps in rest without tending to any disturbance in its position due to a opposite force acting on it between the two contact surfaces. that opposite force is known as static friction

limiting friction:- it can be defined as the friction offered by contact surface about which body tends to move due to external increasing force. ie., it is the maximum value of static friction.

kinetic friction:; the friction exerted during the motion of the body.
